Bradl completes Aprilia switch

The Gresini-run Aprilia team has confirmed the signing of ex-Forward Racing rider Stefan Bradl for the rest of the 2015 MotoGP season.

Bradl takes the bike vacated by Marco Melandri last month and then ridden by Michael Laverty in the last round at the Sachsenring.

Forward faces an uncertain future after the arrest of team boss Giovanni Cuzari, and will definitely miss the next grand prix at Indianapolis.

It announced on Friday that it had agreed to release Bradl from his contract, paving the way for his immediate move to Aprilia, where he joins long-time Gresini man Alvaro Bautista.

The 2012 Moto2 champion, Bradl spent the first two years of his MotoGP career on an LCR Honda before joining Forward to race its Yamaha-based Open class package for ’14, alongside World Superbike convert Loris Baz.

He missed his home race in Germany last month due to a hand injury sustained at the previous event in the Netherlands, and is only 19th in the championship having struggled for results so far this year.
